The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: a retaliatory strike was launched by cruise missiles at the military airfield Shkolny
On June 21, the Russian Defense Ministry reported an Onyx missile strike at the Shkolny military airfield near Odessa. Hangars with Ukrainian Bayraktar-TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles identified by Russian intelligence tools were destroyed, the ministry said.
The Russian military, in response to the APU attack on mining platforms in the Black Sea, struck arsenals with Ukrainian weapons, military equipment and drones. On Tuesday, June 21, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation informed about this.
The ministry added that two platoons of 155-millimeter American M-777 howitzers were liquidated on Kubansky Island. Also, Russian aviation destroyed two launchers of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in the Ochakov and Tuzla areas of the Odessa region, RIA Novosti reports.
Operation near Snake Island
Ukraine decided to attack gas platforms with the help of attack drones after it once again failed in capturing the island of Zmeiny, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
"On June 20, at about 05:00, the Kiev regime made another insane attempt to seize the island of Zmeiny. The plan of the operation of the Kiev regime provided for massive air and artillery strikes on the island, followed by the landing of troops and its capture,"the report says.
More than 15 reconnaissance and strike drones participated in the raid, the guidance was carried out by two Bayraktars, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation clarified, noting that the strategic reconnaissance drone of the US Air Force "Global Hawk" RQ-4 was allegedly in the airspace at high altitudes.
The Russian Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex and the Tor anti-aircraft missile system destroyed all the weapons fired at Snake Island, 13 drones, four Tochka-U missiles and 21 Uragan MLRS missiles were shot down in the air," the Defense Ministry said.
Impacts on drilling platforms
As it was reported the day before, on June 20, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck three drilling platforms of Chernomorneftegaz located at the Odessa field. At that moment there were 109 people on the towers. On Tuesday, the Crimean authorities said that not everyone could be saved.
In turn, a member of the Committee on International Affairs of the SF Sergey Tsekov stressed that the strikes on drilling rigs caused environmental damage to the entire Black Sea and all the countries of the Black Sea region. He urged not to ignore what is happening, as in the case of the spread of Ukrainian ship mines in the sea area.
According to the latest UN data, losses among the civilian population of Ukraine amount to 4,569 killed, including 304 children. 5,691 people were injured, including 467 children.
