The machine tool holding of Rostec State Corporation JSC "Mechanics", the administration of the Vladimir region and the Scientific and Production Complex "Almaz" concluded a trilateral agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on the creation of a new technological cluster "Almaznaya Dolina" on the territory of the Vladimir Region for the synthesis of large crystals of synthetic diamonds and the development of a new generation electronic component base for the technological needs of domestic industry. The total investment in the project until 2027 will amount to about 9 billion rubles.
The agreement was signed by the Governor of the Vladimir region Alexander Avdeev, the General Director of JSC "Mechanics" Mikhail Kiiko, the General Director of LLC NPK "Almaz" Valery Afinogenov in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
The agreement provides for joint implementation of scientific and technical cooperation in the development of equipment for the production of rough diamonds and the application of an epitaxial layer on silicon semiconductors; production of heat sinks, diamond hybrids (diamond - silicon carbide, etc.) and electronic component base of a new generation. Synthetic diamonds today are a strategic material for the production of high-tech products, which include microchips, optical electronic devices, high-voltage electronics, as well as tools.
"The transition to new production standards, the development and production of more and more high-tech products will increase the demand for technical diamonds from industrial enterprises both in Russia and abroad. According to experts, the demand for them will grow by 7-12% annually in the future 10-15 years. The signing today of a strategic agreement with the leader in the production of artificial diamonds weighing over 10 carats opens up new prospects in the development of the production of large synthetic crystals, which are most in demand for the creation of a new generation of electronic component base in medicine, electronics, nuclear and oil industries," said Mikhail Kiiko, General Director of JSC "Mechanics".
Under the terms of the strategic agreement, JSC "Mechanics" will act as a research center with the involvement of the competencies of VNIIALMAZ, which since 1947 has been the main center for the development and implementation of various technologies in the field of creation and processing of natural and synthetic diamonds. LLC NPK Almaz will act as an industrial partner.
In addition, the main areas of joint work will be the creation of testing, methodological, analytical centers; the localization of production and the launch of new investment projects on the basis of the "Diamond Valley", the creation of a single engineering center, assistance in the development, modernization and experimental testing of advanced technologies in the interests of Russian industrial companies.
"The implementation of the Diamond Valley project on the territory of the Vladimir region for the production of diamond products is expedient and promising, as it allows, using the potential of the region, to contribute to the creation of a new generation of electronic component base for electronics, including power, with significant export potential; to develop the market of synthetic diamonds within Russia, not only in the jewelry industry, but, above all, in expanding the use of this type of product in the mentioned areas of electronics development; to allow the diversification of the activities of many Russian enterprises and further increase the utilization of their capacities," said Valery Afinogenov, General Director of Almaz.
