The Russian Ministry of Defense published on Thursday, June 16, footage of the combat work of the crews of jamming helicopters during a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass.
The main task of these helicopter crews is to ensure the actions of the aviation of the Aerospace Forces of Russia when overcoming the air defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In the course of their work, the radar air defense systems of the Ukrainian troops are affected.
From the look of the helicopter jammers looks ordinary. In fact, it is equipped with a unique complex that has no analogues in the world. Its radio equipment makes it possible to hide Russian aircraft in the sky from any air defense systems.
"The Lever-AV system is installed on the basis of the Mi-8 helicopter. Located inside the helicopter. We have high-power stations that allow for long distances into the depth of the enemy's territory to suppress air defense systems of all modifications. We cover our winged brothers with an invisible shield, who strike at enemy targets. In any weather, we will climb to heights. The enemy does not notice us, does not see us. We suppress its air defense systems, thereby ensuring the passage and actions of our own," said the commander of the helicopter crew Sergey.
According to him, this complex can suppress enemy electronic systems within a radius of more than a hundred km. And the helicopter itself, accompanying and covering the Russian Aerospace Forces, can remain out of the affected area.
With the help of the Rychag-AV station, helicopters also get the opportunity to conduct electronic reconnaissance and suppress the control systems of troops and weapons of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces. The system provides group protection not only for aviation, but also for ground equipment.
The day before, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told about the work of calculations of the anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) "Osa-AKM" during a special operation. They conduct reconnaissance of the air situation, determine the coordinates of targets and destroy them, including Ukrainian drones.
The department also said that the calculations of the Osa-AKM launchers are marching to designated areas and, having taken firing positions, begin combat duty for the air defense of the positions of the Russian troops.
Russia announced the start of a special operation on February 24. It began against the background of the situation in Donbass that escalated in mid-February. Then the authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
