Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that Russia plans to cooperate with the Republic of Belarus for the development of electronic engineering, since it is problematic to master this direction alone.
It is noted that during the last decades in the Russian Federation there has been practically no development of electronic engineering. Thus, the means of production of electronics were not produced in the country, but imported into it.
However, in the current situation, Russia is forced to actively engage in import substitution. The fact is that due to sanctions, Russian customers cannot purchase electronics that use American technologies, and even produce their own products at most foreign enterprises like Taiwan's TSMC.
"Back in the Soviet Union, Belarusian enterprises, in particular Planar, were actively engaged in electronic engineering. Now these ties are being restored, we are forming the necessary measures. Of course, it is impossible to develop this area alone, we will look for partners all over the world," RBC quoted Mr. Borisov as saying.
In addition to the Planar holding, which is engaged in precision engineering, Yuri Borisov also mentioned the Belarusian Integral, specializing in the development and production of microcircuits, semiconductor devices and other electronic equipment.
At the same time, Borisov noted that the world electronics is also dependent on Russia — the country is a major exporter of gases necessary for the electronics industry, in particular neon, with which all laser installations are built.
