The sale to Kiev of American reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) MQ-1C Gray Eagle ("Gray Eagle") is accompanied by various difficulties. This is reported by the newspaper Politico with reference to American officials.
In particular, difficulties with training and logistics are mentioned. According to the sources of the publication, even if the sale of four drones takes place in the next few weeks, the Ukrainian military will most likely not be able to use them on the front line for weeks or even months.
According to Dan Gettinger, an expert of the Vertical Flight Society, the use of Gray Eagle requires ground infrastructure, secure communication channels and equipment. At the same time, theoretically, operators can control drones from outside Ukraine.
Earlier in June, Reuters, citing sources, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden decided to sell Ukraine four MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones, which can be equipped with Hellfire missiles. In turn, military observer Anton Lavrov expressed the opinion that the American MQ-1C Gray Eagle attack UAVs will not change the course of the special operation.
