The 11th Airborne Division of the United States underwent a reformation procedure, after which it received the name "Arctic Angels" and will henceforth be based in Alaska. Its number will be up to 16 thousand people.
The deployment of the compound will be carried out by parachuting from C-17 transport aircraft or from landing helicopters. Both methods will complement each other when performing a combat mission and will help ensure patrolling of the vast Arctic strip with limited forces.

In addition to helicopters, the paratroopers will have at their disposal new Arctic all—terrain vehicles - CATV, which will replace the outdated Swedish Bv206 (SUSV). These vehicles are lightly armored armored personnel carriers with special tracks for moving through the snow. By forming the 11th VDD, the US Army solves several important tasks. First, from now on, all units based in Alaska will unite under a common command (previously their headquarters were in Hawaii). Secondly, it will strengthen the US military presence in the Arctic, the struggle for which has been continuously escalating in recent years. And, thirdly, specially trained fighters of the division will be fully ready to operate in harsh Arctic conditions. Once in Alaska, ordinary unprepared army units have repeatedly experienced serious problems with morale.
