Lithuania intends to arm itself with French 155-mm self-propelled howitzers CAESAR. The agreement on the intentions of the parties is planned to be signed within the framework of the Eurosatory international exhibition of armaments and military equipment of the ground forces starting in Paris. The exhibition will be held from June 13 to 17.
The plans of Lithuania to purchase an unnamed number of French wheeled self-propelled guns were announced by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorny, who announced a personal meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Anushauskas on the sidelines of the exhibition in Paris. It is at the meeting that the letter of intent will be signed.

The CAESAR ACS is a 155-mm self-propelled wheeled artillery system developed by GIAT Industries. It has been mass-produced since 2007. The carried ammunition of the ACS is 18 shells, the rate of fire is 6 rounds per minute. The howitzer is capable of using the entire range of 155-mm artillery ammunition of NATO countries.
Earlier, the French delivered 12 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled guns to Ukraine, also conducting training in the use of self-propelled howitzers by Ukrainian gunners. The APU has already used CAESAR self-propelled guns to bombard Donetsk.
