Spain decided to supply the Ukrainian nationalists with Leopard-2A4 tanks. In total, the army of this country currently has more than a hundred vehicles of this modification in storage.
Less than fifty of them are planned to be delivered. According to the " RG: Russian weapons ", these tanks were purchased back in 1995, they were planned to be converted into engineering equipment, but there were problems with financing, which, by the way, have not yet been resolved.
It is planned that the Leopards will be delivered to Latvia, where the Spanish contingent is already located. The training of the AFU fighters will just begin there.
Of course, such tanks are significantly superior to the Polish T-72M and T-72M1, which are already fighting in Ukraine. But this modification of "armored cats" is not perfect, first of all, in the field of protection. Perhaps the Ukrainians will ask their henchmen from the NATO bloc in Latvia to equip them with dynamic protection, but what can they install, except for the old mounted "Contact", which does not hold tandem combat units of anti-tank guided missiles and rocket-propelled grenades too well?
Given that the training courses will be extremely short, the skill level of the crews, respectively, will be insufficient, which will affect losses. It can be assumed that the "Spanish gifts" will be destroyed in a relatively short time. Or, alternatively, it is possible that very soon the Leopard-2A4 will be able to be seen by visitors of the Patriot 0park near Moscow, where captured equipment from Syria has already been exhibited. Now, apparently, it's the turn of the Ukrainian and NATO.
