The Thai military relied on industrial facilities in Ukraine, which produced spare parts for previously purchased Oplot-M and BTR-3E tanks. However, nezalezhnaya lost the opportunity to manufacture them after the destruction as a result of the raids of the production and repair center at the Malyshev plant in Kharkiv. In this regard, Thailand is going to switch to its own production of the necessary parts and assemblies and even share the available stocks with the APU.
- it is noted in the AAG edition.
In the 2010s, the Royal Thai Army purchased 49 Oplot-M tanks, KrAZ-6322 and 238 BTR-3E1 technical support trucks in Nezalezhnaya. The Kiev regime's loss of competence to repair them has caused concern among the military. In this regard, consultations were held with local companies regarding the maintenance of tanks and armored personnel carriers – "who is ready to do what".
As a result, it was decided to establish its own production, including at the sites of Chaiseri, which already has a factory where armored vehicles, other military equipment are produced and tanks are repaired. The possibility of releasing the BTR-4CS-T developed for the Thai Marine Corps without the participation of the independent is being studied.
As indicated in the publication, Thailand already has experience in import substitution. For example, a number of parts for the 155 mm GHN45A1 cannon and the Boford L/70 anti-aircraft gun were designed and put into production.
