A Chinese J-16 fighter jet damaged an Australian P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft on patrol over international waters in the South China Sea. This is with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Australia reports The Drive.
The incident occurred on May 26, when the J-16, having made a "dangerous maneuver", released heat traps in front of the P-8A Poseidon containing metal elements, some of which got into the propulsion system of the Australian aircraft.
The publication notes that the flight of the P-8A Poseidon took place in accordance with international standards, and the aircraft falling into the hands of the Chinese authorities would be a disaster for the American and Australian sides.
In April, The Times newspaper reported that an American P-8 Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft was patrolling the Black Sea shortly before the Russian cruiser Moskva sank there.
In January, the 19FortyFive publication told about aircraft spying on Russia from five countries: American P-8A Poseidon, RC-12X Guardrail, RC-135W Rivet Joint and E-8 Joint STARS, British P-8A Poseidon and RC-135W Rivet Joint, Swedish S100D and S102B, German P-3C Orion and Norwegian Falcon 20ECM.
