The Russian Defense Ministry has published footage of the combat work of calculations of self-propelled artillery 2S-19 "Msta-S" to destroy armored vehicles and fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during a special operation to protect the population of Donbass.
According to the military department, the calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles revealed the concentration of armored vehicles in the area of the forest belt and the preparation of the APU tankers to conduct a counterattack on previously lost positions.
Judging by the footage, the installations drove at high speed to one of the equipped firing positions in the forest belt. It took less than a minute for the calculations to aim and load. The gunners worked with a high-precision guided Krasnopol, the department explained.
The enemy's positions are no more than 5 km away.
"After receiving the coordinates of the targets and intelligence data, a battery of 152-mm self-propelled guns "Msta-S" struck with high-precision ammunition at a cluster of enemy tanks. Each shot is a hit on target," the press service of the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The APU tanks were destroyed by artillery battery fire, preparations for an enemy attack were disrupted, the ministry concluded.
The commander of the battery of the ACS "Msta-S" Denis explained the difference between an accurate projectile and a high-explosive fragmentation.
"High-precision ammunition, which was first used at the landfills, has already been put into practice here. Application for pronounced purposes, separately located. An accurate hit from the first shell. No need for any shootings. Each shell is a hit," the commander told reporters.
Krasnopol is a high–precision ammunition that allows you to hit targets with high accuracy, including small-sized ones. Firing from the 152-mm self-propelled howitzer "Msta-S" can be carried out both from closed firing positions and direct fire without preliminary preparation of firing positions.
On the eve of June 6, the military correspondent of Izvestia Rodion Severyanov showed unique footage from a copter, in which the Russian military destroy the calculation of mortars of Ukrainian nationalists . The footage shows that the drone first recorded the location of the calculations, after which it transmitted the coordinates to the gunners, who accurately hit the target. An enemy BMP was also destroyed.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed the work of calculations of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Grad" when performing firing tasks to destroy the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special operation. The Russian Armed Forces are working to destroy Ukrainian strongholds and fortified areas.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, according to the Ministry of Defense, 190 aircraft, 129 helicopters, 1,127 drones, 330 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,424 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 473 MLRS installations, 1,795 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 3,446 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in the Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
