American regulators have begun investigating cases of false brakes on Tesla cars. This is reported by The Guardian.
More than 750 electric car owners have complained to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that their cars started braking for no reason. According to consumers, the car usually picks up speed, but then slows down sharply, apparently reacting to phantom obstacles.
On Friday, June 3, information appeared on the NHTSA website that the organization will ask Tesla for feedback from car owners and all reports related to false braking. The department was interested in whether accidents have occurred as a result of sudden braking, as well as whether there are reports of victims and material damage. The NHTSA also requests data on whether the autonomous control systems and the cruise control function were working at that time.
Representatives of the organization demanded that Tesla provide materials no later than June 20. The statement also says that the company may request an extension of the deadline.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States was investigating cases of sudden braking of Tesla electric cars in February. Then 354 owners of electric cars complained about problems with cars.
Users of Tesla cars told about the frequent cases of false braking while driving on autopilot in November 2021. According to motorists whose cars began to brake sharply for no reason, the situation gives them discomfort.
