MOSCOW, June 5 — RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Defense has published a video depicting the combat operation of self-propelled artillery installations "Peony" during a special military operation in Ukraine.
In the footage, you can see how the calculation charges the "Peony" and fires at the positions of the Ukrainian troops. The peculiarity of this gun, as well as others of the same caliber, is separate—cap loading, that is, the propellant charge is loaded into the gun not in a sleeve, but in a cap — a cylindrical bag. The recording shows that two caps are sent to the cannon after the projectile.
The Defense Ministry explained that the calculations of the "Peonies" revealed the location of the enemy and delivered accurate strikes at long ranges.
"The fire of the self—propelled gun "Peony" destroyed the equipped firing positions and observation posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fortified in the forest," the report says.
The shooting was carried out with high-explosive shells at a range of up to 30 kilometers. The battery then moved to avoid a retaliatory strike.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin stressed, its goal is "to protect people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." According to the Ministry of Defense, by the end of March, the Russian army had completed the main tasks of the first stage — it significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the department was called the liberation of Donbass.
