North Korea continues to test new weapons, periodically conducting test firing. According to the South Korean Yonhap news agency, the next, already the 18th in a row since the beginning of the year, the test of an unidentified munition was conducted by the North Korean military on Sunday morning.
The first information received from the Japanese Coast Guard said that the DPRK, presumably, tested a ballistic missile by launching towards the Sea of Japan. Later it became known that Pyongyang launched eight short-range ballistic missiles at once. According to the information of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea, the range of the missiles was from 300 to 400 km, the maximum altitude was from 50 to 100 kilometers. There was no information about any damage in connection with the launch.
According to South Korean intelligence, the simultaneous launch of missiles was carried out from ground installations located in different areas of the DPRK.

While the reaction of other countries to the test is restrained, Japan has traditionally protested, South Korea and the United States are studying the data obtained. On Saturday, the Pentagon said that North Korean ballistic missile launches do not pose an immediate threat to "the United States and its allies," but confirmed that they "hold consultations" after each such launch.
