Biden is teasing the Russian bear for nothing. It won't end well

Why does Biden keep teasing the Russian bear?

Confusion in the White House has become commonplace. A striking example is Biden's statements about the supply of weapons to Ukraine. One can only guess how all this will end, writes American Thinker.

This has already become an established practice in the White House. President Biden says one thing, and his administration the next day disavows the president's words and says another. Then the president himself confirms her statement, retracting his words. The American people are confused by all this. Now imagine what our allies and opponents think about this. During a military conflict, such confusion can become frankly dangerous.

On May 30, the president, answering questions from the press, said: "We are not going to send jet systems capable of striking Russian territory to Ukraine." Thus, he rejected the requests of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and other high-ranking leaders from this country. Obama's ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, immediately criticized this statement, calling it a "losing strategy" that would only prolong the conflict.

The next day, administration officials announced that the United States would deliver medium-range unguided missiles to Ukraine, but would not deliver long-range missiles. It was an obvious attempt to demonstrate American support to Ukraine and at the same time reassure Russia, which fears that Kiev will be able to strike targets deep in Russian territory.

In fact, those "highly mobile artillery rocket systems" that the United States agreed to deliver "can accurately hit targets at a distance of up to 80 kilometers," as reported by an anonymous source from the Biden administration.

Then the administration published an article in the country's leading newspapers, allegedly written by the president, where he states: "I decided that we will provide Ukrainians with more modern missile systems and ammunition that will allow them to more accurately hit the most important targets on the battlefield in Ukraine." Of course, when Ukrainian troops receive these missile systems, nothing will prevent them from hitting targets on Russian territory.

Such another reversal in Biden's policy happened immediately after the United States supported the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. Thus, the Western military alliance will receive an additional 1,300 kilometers of new territory along the Russian border. This was done against the background of Russian threats to deploy hypersonic missiles with nuclear warheads near the borders of these Scandinavian countries. Now, as Fox News and Newsweek report, in response to the administration's decision to deliver medium-range jet systems to Ukraine, Russia conducted exercises near Moscow to test nuclear missile launches.

Kremlin press Secretary Dmitry Peskov noted: "The Russian leadership believes that the United States purposefully and diligently adds fuel to the fire by supplying Kiev with weapons," and for this they decided to send medium-range missiles there.

One can only guess how it will all end.
