The private Turkish company Baykar, engaged in the production of drones, decided to transfer the Bayraktar TB2 aircraft to Lithuania for free. The company announced this on Twitter .
The company learned that a fundraiser for the purchase of a drone for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has opened in Lithuania. "The people of Lithuania have honorably raised funds for the purchase of Bayraktar TB2 for Ukraine. After learning about this, Baykar will donate Bayraktar TB2 to Lithuania free of charge and ask that these funds be transferred to Ukraine for humanitarian aid," the Turkish company said in a statement.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas on Twitter promised to use the money raised to buy the necessary ammunition for the drone. Together with the rest of the funds transferred to humanitarian aid, Lithuania will give the aircraft to Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Anushauskas announced the fundraising for the Bayraktar attack drone for the Armed Forces of Ukraine through his page on the social network Twitter. Earlier, this collection was opened by journalist Andrius Tapinas, but the Minister of Defense not only supported him on the social network, but also left details for donations. In total, they collected about six million euros, although it took five to buy a drone.
