On June 1, the Ministry of Defense announced successes in counter-battery firing and the destruction of several 155-mm howitzers transferred to Ukraine by NATO countries, a large-caliber artillery installation "Peony" and multiple rocket launchers "Grad" during the day. The National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation warned about Kiev's plans to transfer long-range multiple launch rocket systems received from the United States to the Sumy region and use them to provoke a strike on Russian territory.

During the day, five control points and 29 areas of concentration of the AFU troops were destroyed by high-precision aviation missiles. Operational-tactical, army and unmanned aircraft hit 61 enemy deployment areas.
— In total, as a result of air strikes, more than 140 nationalists were destroyed, as well as nine tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, a battery of BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems, six artillery pieces and mortars, 13 APU vehicles of various purposes and one anti-aircraft missile system "OSA—AKM", - said the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry. Air defense systems destroyed a Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft near Sergeyevka in the DPR, a Mi-8 helicopter near Kharkiv, seven unmanned aerial vehicles and two Smerch multiple rocket launcher missiles.

In total, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, 185 aircraft, 129 helicopters, 1,077 unmanned aerial vehicles, 326 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,363 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 457 multiple rocket launchers, 1,744 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 3,329 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation.

The Russian Defense Ministry accused the military of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of a terrorist act with the use of toxic substances. According to the Ministry of Defense, at about 7 p.m. on May 31, retreating units of the 79th DSHB on the territory of the Severodonetsk Azot enterprise blew up a tank with a poisonous chemical substance - nitric acid in order to stop the advancing units of Russia and the DPR. The poisonous cloud rose to a height of about one kilometer and moved towards the settlements of Kremennaya and Rubezhnoye.
— The Ukrainian neo-Nazis were not stopped by the fact that innocent civilians suffered as a result of this terrorist act with the use of a toxic chemical substance. The Kiev authorities have once again shown their criminal and cynical nature. Terror and genocide against one's own people have become the norm for Ukraine," Mikhail Mizintsev stressed.
The General said that on June 1, five humanitarian actions were held in the Donetsk People's Republic, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, during which 428.3 tons of basic necessities and food were handed over to the population.

Corporal Ivan Zubov, as part of the anti-aircraft missile crew for the destruction of air targets, ensured the combat operation of the launcher. As a result, Ivan's calculation destroyed two enemy aircraft: a Su-25 attack aircraft and a Su-24 bomber.
"Thanks to Ivan Zubov's bold and decisive actions, the enemy failed to strike at our units and their military equipment," the ministry stressed.

Junior Sergeant Dmitry Gorbachuk acted as part of the calculation of a self-propelled launcher when launching a missile attack on a warehouse with weapons and ammunition of Ukrainian nationalists. The airborne assault battalion of Sergeant Anton Sedegov was liberating a strategically important airfield from the nationalists who had seized it. Landing from a helicopter, Anton immediately joined the enemy in battle. The paratroopers successfully destroyed the firing means on duty and the hidden MANPADS positions, capturing the fortified area of the airfield.
