When they start discussing the modern combat use of T-62M medium tanks, they recall the recent conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh.
The ground forces of the first state had modern T-90S and upgraded T-72M1 Aslan. At the same time, not the newest T-55, T-55A and even T-54B remained in service.
As we noted at the time, these combat vehicles were used exclusively in secondary sectors of the front, where the parties limited their actions mainly to fire contacts.
They moved behind high earthen ramparts, fired indirect fire and suffered virtually no losses.
Therefore, a similar tactic is quite applicable to the T-62. Without taking a direct part in the attack, they can provide powerful fire support, perhaps sometimes replacing self-propelled artillery guns with light armor.
In addition, equipment is always needed for duty at checkpoints, for the protection of various objects where it is irrational to use modern tanks.
The experience of combat operations in the North Caucasus and Syria has demonstrated that the "sixty-second" are very easy-to-operate combat vehicles that are easy to restore in the field.
