MOSCOW, May 23 - RIA Novosti. Billionaire Oleg Deripaska urged to remember the danger posed by nuclear war and the words of one of the creators of the Soviet hydrogen bomb, academician Andrei Sakharov, that this is "collective suicide."
"This man (Sakharov - ed.), like no one else, understood the true consequences of the use of nuclear weapons and the senselessness of the arms race. He consistently spoke with one principled position: for peace," Deripaska wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to him, "collective suicide," as Sakharov called any nuclear war, is clearly not an option."
"It was time for humanity to grow up a long time ago. At least for the 101st anniversary of Andrei Dmitrievich," the billionaire added.
Deripaska noted that "the Physics Day celebrated on May 21 at Moscow State University coincided with the 101st birthday of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Andrei Sakharov."
"But the day before the holiday, it became known that a lecture dedicated to Andrei Dmitrievich was canceled at the Faculty of Physics. But today his work entitled "The danger of thermonuclear war" is becoming relevant again," the businessman said.
