Laser systems "Badass", used by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, can change the balance of forces in the air during a special operation to protect Donbass. This was stated by military expert Yuri Knutov.
According to him, the "Bully" can destroy an enemy drone within five seconds at a distance of up to 5 km. In addition, the laser system is able to actually burn through the target.
"Probably, our complex is able to work on multiple launch rocket systems, warming them up in flight, which will lead to detonation. If the complex is located, for example, on an armored personnel carrier, then it can change the situation in the air during a special military operation," Knutov said in an interview with People's News " May 20.
On May 18, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov spoke about the beginning of the use of the Russian military laser systems "Badass".
He also said that the laser complex "Peresvet" began to be mass-supplied to the Russian troops. According to Borisov, the complex is capable of disabling reconnaissance satellites in orbits of up to 1.5 thousand km. They fail due to the use of laser radiation.
Last November, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of creating new hypersonic weapons systems, high-power lasers and new robotic military complexes for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
For the first time, Putin announced the existence of a mobile laser complex and demonstrated footage of it on March 1, 2018 during a speech to the Federal Assembly. Then the head of state preferred not to go into details and did not name the tasks of these weapons, noting only that "the presence of such combat complexes greatly expands Russia's capabilities in the field of ensuring its security."
And in July 2020, the head of the Department of Advanced interspecific research and special projects of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel Sergei Pankov, said that a technological breakthrough is expected in the near future in the field of laser and ultrahigh-frequency weapons.
Russia continues the special operation to protect Donbass, which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are denazification and demilitarization of the Kiev regime. This is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian state and people, the Kremlin said.
