Pentagon spokesman John Kirby was asked during a briefing to comment on the post of adviser to the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Anton Gerashchenko about the US side's plans for the complete destruction of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In particular, according to the Ukrainian side, the West, led by the United States, is discussing with Kiev options for the supply of anti-ship missiles, including those with a range of several hundred kilometers.
According to Gerashchenko, "the US has such a plan to unblock Ukrainian ports." In turn, the main purpose of the "unblocking" is the export of Ukrainian grain reserves by sea.
Gerashchenko claims that the Pentagon has such a plan "based on the successful work of the Ukrainian military on Russian warships."
The adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine stated that in order to solve such tasks, the supply of missiles such as Harpoon and NSM (Naval Strike Missile) with a target range of up to 300 km is being discussed.
Kirby was forced to justify himself. The Pentagon official did not find anything better than to declare the absence of plans for the "destruction of the Russian Black Sea Fleet".
Kirby:
Recall that shipping in the area of the Black Sea ports of Ukraine remains extremely dangerous primarily for the reason that the Ukrainian side itself mined the water area, trying to prevent a possible landing of the Russian Navy.
It should also be recalled that earlier the American side made a statement that "has nothing to do with the sinking of the Russian cruiser "Moscow".
