MOSCOW, May 20 - RIA Novosti. There is no innovation in the possible provision of Harpoon anti-ship missiles to Ukraine by the Americans, the Russian military is carefully monitoring the supply of weapons and taking measures, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Reuters, citing sources, reported that American officials are working on providing Ukraine with modern anti-ship missiles. According to the agency, current and former American officials, speaking about sending Ukraine more powerful weapons of longer range, stated that it requires longer training, it is more difficult to maintain, and also that it could allegedly fall into the hands of the Russian military. At the same time, a number of sources in the US Congress said that two types of anti-ship missiles are still being considered for shipment to Kiev - Harpoon, manufactured by Boeing, and Naval Strike Missile, developed by Kongsberg and Raytheon Technologies.
"You know that a lot of weapons are coming to Ukraine from the West, you know perfectly well our attitude to this. Therefore, there is no innovation here. Our military is very, very carefully monitoring all these supplies, working proactively in this regard, appropriate measures are being taken," Peskov said, commenting on the initiative to supply Ukraine with Harpoon anti-ship missiles from the United States.
