The Czech Republic nevertheless obtained compensation from Germany for the Soviet-made T-72 tanks delivered to Ukraine, the negotiations ended successfully. According to the German Defense Ministry, the Czech Republic will receive Leopard 2A4 tanks.
Last week, Prague announced that they were negotiating with Berlin on compensation for the T-72 tanks delivered to Ukraine. As stated by the Czech Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova, the Czech Defense Ministry would like to get something in between the latest version of the Leopard-1 tank and the newest version of the Leopard-2 tank. Judging by the latest reports, the Czechs managed to get compensation from the Germans, Berlin will supply Prague with 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks from the Bundeswehr, i.e. just not a new version, but not outdated either.
The German Defense Ministry issued a special statement on this fact, in which it confirmed the transfer of tanks, and also notified that the Bundeswehr was taking over the training of Czech tankers. Well, Berlin did not forget to mention Ukraine in the statement.

Thus, it can be stated that the "exchange scheme", under which Ukraine received tanks from the Czech Republic, and the Czech Republic received tanks from Germany, worked for the first time. It's just not clear yet what Germany received from this exchange, except Zelensky's gratitude.
Meanwhile, the Czechs decided to completely switch to German tanks and announced negotiations on the purchase of the latest version of tanks from Germany - Leopard 2A7+ new assembly. We are talking about about 50 cars.
