Already produced in Darwin, Cairns and Western Australia, the new uniform for the Royal Australian Navy began to be used in Sydney.
The full adoption of camouflage-colored equipment is expected to be completed at the end of this year. Director General of Logistics of the Australian Navy Nathan Robb noted that this transition will bring the Royal Navy uniform in line with other types of the armed forces of the country. Earlier, in 2014, the Australian Army began the transition to a new uniform called AMCU.
It is reported that the updated equipment for Australian sailors is available in two versions: coastal and fire-resistant.
Speaking of the latter. The United States went a similar way a few years ago, replacing uncomfortable fire-resistant overalls in its Navy with a two-component uniform.
Robb said.
According to the representative of the defense industry division David Frith, the new uniform for the Navy was fully developed by Australian specialists. It, as stated, combines the latest approaches to flame-retardant solutions for clothing and other properties that ensure the comfort and safety of military personnel.
