TSAMTO, May 16. The 4th State Central Interspecific Landfill "Kapustin Yar", located in the Astrakhan region, celebrated the 76th anniversary of its formation.
This date marks an entire era in the creation of missile weapons. It was at the test site that the first domestic ballistic missiles were tested, and the first spacecraft were launched, which opened the way to space for man.
In 1972, the landfill was awarded the Order of the Red Star for successful tests of missile systems of the first and second generations.
As a result of the joint hard work of scientists and designers, organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense and specialists of the landfill, a methodology for testing various types of weapons was formed, which is implemented in testing programs and methods, and a unique experimental testing base was created.
The structure of the Kapustin Yar training ground includes scientific testing units of weapons and military equipment of the Strategic Missile Forces, missile forces and artillery, air defense forces of the Aerospace Forces and Ground Forces, as well as the Sary-Shagan test site on the territory of Kazakhstan.
The units of the landfill participate in the creation of weapons samples, solving tasks from the consideration of draft and technical projects, the development of programs and test methods to the evaluation of the characteristics of samples and the effectiveness of their combat use.
The specialists of the landfill are constantly conducting scientific research aimed at improving the methodology of landfill testing, developing methods and methods that improve the characteristics of the tested samples, improving the experimental testing base.
Today, the Kapustin Yar State Central Interspecific Training Ground is a single research complex with a high scientific and technical potential, a developed experimental and technical base, favorable climatic conditions, territory and airspace that allow testing and joint development of weapons systems in the interests of all types and branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Currently, the modernization of the landfill measuring complex has been completed to ensure the testing of various types of weapons.
As part of this work, the test site has not only been completely re-equipped with modern measuring equipment, but also a system of information and measurement support for tests has been created, which allows providing reportage and reference and analytical information in real time to the Central Command Post of the Strategic Missile Forces on the progress of pre-launch preparation, launch and flight of the rocket.
Due to its scope, geographical location, unique test routes, infrastructure, the test site in the Astrakhan steppe plays a key role in testing promising weapons, modern complexes and systems in the interests of all types and branches of the armed forces. The capabilities of the landfill measuring complex will allow testing the latest weapons that strengthen the country's defense capability in the future, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
