MOSCOW, May 11 - RIA Novosti. The United States, as part of its military biological program in Ukraine, used Mariupol as a regional center for working with the causative agent of cholera, said Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
"Specialists of the Russian Ministry of Defense have carried out work directly in two biolabs in Mariupol," Kirillov said at a briefing on Wednesday.
"We have received evidence of the emergency destruction of documents confirming work with the American military department. A preliminary analysis of the preserved documentation indicates the use of Mariupol as a regional center for the collection and certification of the cholera pathogen," Kirillov added.
The selected strains were sent to the public health center in Kiev, which is responsible for the further shipment of biomaterials to the United States, the general noted.
"This activity has been carried out since 2014, which is confirmed by acts of transmission of strains," Kirillov said.
