Russian Russian-speaking "Russian" characters and misspelled words have already become familiar and the most obvious examples of "cranberries" in Hollywood films. But mistakes related to technology, including combat, are unlikely to be recognized by an ordinary viewer.
Rostec told about the five funniest of them.
The "secret" MiG-28
The main character of the movie Top Gun, Lieutenant Pete Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, on an F-14 Tomcat carrier-based fighter, engages in battle with a secret MiG-28. But such an aircraft has never existed. The MiG company designates fighter models with odd numbers - MiG-27, MiG-25 of the period of the 70s - 80s of the last century are well known. In fact, the prototype of the MiG-28 was the secret MiG-29 at that time, the appearance of which the overseas screenwriters did not know. Well, the role of Soviet fighters in the picture was performed by American Northrop F-5.
In the modern continuation of the story, Pete Mitchell switched to the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet - the main combat aircraft of the US Navy, and his opponent will be the Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57. Rostec invited an American actor to Zhukovsky near Moscow for MAKS-2023 so that he could get to know the Su-57 better and see aerobatics performed by Russian pilots.
7.62 mm Grenade Launcher for Rambo
In the cult film "Rambo: First Blood 2" for many residents of the post-Soviet space, the main character uses a Kalashnikov assault rifle. But at some point he is shown a box with a Soviet grenade launcher. It shows an inscription in Russian: "Cartridges of the 1943 model. The caliber is 7.62 mm". The miscalculation may be obvious even to the American viewer - the digital designations are the same everywhere, and the 7.62 caliber is clearly not suitable for a grenade launcher, it belongs to the most popular cartridge in history. The caliber of the RPG-2 is 40 mm.
KALASHNIKOV assault rifles
The Kalashnikov assault rifle is a frequent hero in films produced in different countries, which was facilitated by its international popularity. But even in writing this weapon, Hollywood directors make mistakes. So, in the 2017 film Made in America, the main character, a civil aviation pilot, receives an "offer that cannot be refused." He has to transport a batch of Kalashnikov assault rifles for the "good" rebels. The inscription "KALASHNIKOV" is emblazoned on the boxes with weapons.

The visor is a device from a system of mirrors that helps astronauts to dock the ship. In the domestic space industry, these devices are used by the development and production of the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMZ). In the Oscar-winning film Gravity, the main character Ryan Stone, played by Sandra Bullock, works with a Russian visor with an icon attached to it. But with the device, you can observe oddities. For example, the Americans did not understand the letter "E" and wrote the word "Screen" through the letter "Z". The handles on the sight constantly change position by themselves. In addition, the heroine uses a "Falcon" spacesuit, not designed for spacewalking. Moreover, he now has a removable helmet, and Stone takes off his entire spacesuits and puts them on without any problems, although this is a very complicated process. At the end of everything - the heroine is flying overboard on a fire extinguisher.
Racing on the "Field" on the ice in the "Fast and Furious"
In the eighth part of the popular Fast and Furious franchise, a considerable part of the action takes place in Russia.
The filmmakers sent the main characters to a secret naval base in a mysterious Vladovin. And it is there, in the north, that they drive sports cars on ice without spikes. In pursuit of them, the opponents rush to the "Fields" with the designation "Russian Air Force" and the tail numbers F-501 and F-473. Above the headlights of domestic cars, the inscription "Removable section" is visible, obviously thoughtlessly copied from some Soviet equipment.
One of the "Fields" is hit during the chase, and the sky is visible through its radiator grille. It becomes noticeable that the car does not have a motor, as well as a gearbox with a driveshaft. In another episode, it turns out that the Russian Air Force flies Eurocopter helicopters. For verisimilitude, a huge inscription "DANGEROUS" was put on board the car.
