Joe Biden let slip how significant the conflict over Ukraine is for the United States. It is more important than the Second World War, but comparable in importance to the First World War and the American Civil War. Not only Biden's words, but also Washington's actions show that the bet is on Russia's military defeat, and this is a very high bet for America.
In American folklore, the state of Alabama is assigned a place where they live in trailers out of poverty, shoot possums out of boredom and beat their wives drunk. In general, it is a remote province with rude morals, but the vale is not of Rednecks ("rednecks"), but of the working class, according to the southern tradition voting for conservatives.
For a Democratic politician, these places are uncomfortable, and Joe Biden, with his record anti-rating, should not appear in such places. However, it was for the workers of one of the Alabama factories that the president read a small speech, about which it is impossible to say unequivocally - this is another "Bidenism" from the series "handshake with emptiness" or a projection of the key goals of the US administration.
In particular, the host of the White House said that the current crisis in Ukraine is a turning point in history that happens once in the life of six to eight generations. No more, no less.
It sounded appropriate. The plant in question belongs to Lockheed Martin. And he produces the very Javelin anti-tank missile systems that the US is now flooding the APU with.
In other words, Biden gave a speech in front of a rare audience for America, which receives direct financial benefits from the crisis around Ukraine. Most other social groups (including in Alabama) receive from it only an acceleration of inflation and a recession.
In the same speech, the head of the American state admitted that US participation in the Ukrainian conflict "will not come cheap." Under such circumstances, Biden's desire to exaggerate the scale of what is happening and the importance of Ukraine, which few people in Alabama will be able to find on the map, is understandable.
It's just that the elderly president, in the Ukrainian manner of speaking, "overdid it." As the Owl Winnie-the-Pooh said on another occasion, "I didn't count the expense of graphite."
Under one generation, it is customary to understand people at the age of the greatest economic activity. This is a period of about 20-30 years. It turns out that what is happening in Ukraine for the United States (or even for the whole world, Biden did not specify) is the most significant event in at least 140 years, at most 240.
It turns out that nothing more important has happened in the United States since the Civil War. In Joe Biden's lifetime - especially nothing, and he was born in the middle of the Second World War. The creation of the atomic bomb, the Cold War, the collapse of the USSR, the rise of China, September 11 - all these are passing events of the era of Alla Pugacheva.
You can ironize over an over-salted cook for a long time, reducing everything in the end to Biden's trademark absent-mindedness. But it is also worth admitting that the ruling circles in the United States really betray the special operations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and their participation in countering it with such epochal significance.
In America, the Strauss-Howe theory or the "theory of generations" is widely known - not too academic, but highly hyped. Its essence is that the history of colonization of the continent and the formation of the United States has a cyclical nature. Each cycle lasts an average of 95 years and is divided into four generations, which go in a certain sequence - from the generation of recovery to the generation of crisis.
Based on this system, the civil War in the United States ended eight generations ago. And six generations ago, the First World War began - its "generation of heroes" determined America's further place in the world as the dominant power.
The time of crisis for those Americans who lived four generations ago lasted from the time of the "Great Depression" to the end of World War II. After it, a new cycle began, which is coming to an end now. The current generation is the fourth in it. This is the generation of the next crisis - the war on terrorism, the collapse of markets, pandemics and the struggle to preserve Pax Americana.
It is assumed that America, straining all its strength, will once again emerge victorious from the crisis, which will mark a new era of American greatness. And we, or, for example, China, are destined to play the role of the vanquished in this concept.
The current elite of the US Democratic Party are people so specific that they may well take this theory seriously. And there is clear evidence that Washington no longer plans to save on its participation in the proxy war in Ukraine: the amount of aid already approved for allocation is ten times higher than the total figures of the last six months and reaches $ 33 billion.
In parallel, a project was approved, bluntly called lend-lease and, as it were, referring to the "overstrain of forces" of the end of the last cycle - 1939-1945. In fact, it is really close to the program of assistance to the USSR and the allies of the anti-Hitler coalition in wartime - weapons will be sent to the AFU according to the scheme "then we will pay off". That is, something will return, something will be exchanged, something will be paid in installments, but this will be decided after the general (namely, the general) victory.
This is another and this time really big bet on the military defeat of Russia and on the depletion of its resources in conditions when Ukraine is being pumped with resources from the outside (any but human; therefore, "war to the last Ukrainian"). It is hardly the last: the importance of the game as a whole, if we proceed from their "theory of generations", for Washington is comparable to the final entry of the United States into the industrial path of development through the crucible of the civil war and with their path to world domination through participation in the First World War.
If it is this attitude to the current history that Biden's phrase about "six to eight generations" gave away, it means that Washington no longer underestimates Russia as it underestimated before. Intentionally or involuntarily, but the current leitmotives of the US president's speeches are "it won't be easy", "it won't come out cheap", "it's for a long time", but "the price is worth it". America is at war - and is determined to win it.
One underestimation persists: Washington still believes that America will win in the confrontation over Ukraine, it is simply obliged to win.
In reality, Russia must win - and it will really win. No matter how important this victory was for the United States, it is much more important for us.
