Lukashenko said that Belarus has learned lessons from Russia's military special operation

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country's authorities have learned lessons from Russia's military special operation. Therefore, Minsk took a new look at the principles of arming its army. According to Lukashenko, the events in Ukraine show that only troops with modern highly effective weapons are able to solve the tasks set.

Special operation lessons

"Frankly, we then saw our army differently and, above all, the armament of our army. And again, quite frankly, Russia's military operation in Ukraine has taught us a lot. From the first day of this operation, I demanded from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, from all of you, taking into account the lessons of the war, to decide what kind of war will be in Belarus, God forbid, and what kind of weapons we will need for our army, if suddenly we have to defend our country with weapons in our hands," the SB quotes. Belarus today" Lukashenko's words at a meeting on the issue of the state defense order for 2022.

He noted that thanks to the lessons learned, the approach of the country's leadership to the size and armament of the Belarusian army has changed.

"In the current situation, this agenda is more relevant than ever. The events in Ukraine clearly show that only troops with modern highly effective weapons and weapons that are absolutely necessary for our territory, life support, fuel and food, are able to solve the tasks set," the Belarusian leader stressed.

Lukashenko added that his country has always paid great attention to the availability of modern assault rifles, tanks, and airplanes. But the events in Ukraine show that "it is no less important to feed the soldier, bring ammunition in time, deploy medical centers."

"Logistics in the modern, seemingly super-revolutionary, modernized army today, as before, plays an important role," he concluded.

No one should be taken by surprise

Lukashenko also recalled the large-scale NATO exercises along the borders of Belarus, noting that various fakes, arguments, and assumptions are being made about this.

"I have never hidden and I do not hide: the Minister of Defense, the General Staff has been given the task - we must provide for everything. First of all, we need to see what is happening at the border, the border guards give a lot of information, the State Security Committee. And the military can see what's going on. Intelligence should work. No one should take us by surprise - the lesson of the last war. We are not aggressors, we are not going to attack anyone, but gunpowder not only needs to be kept dry for the future, but today we need to keep our ears open. We need to see what our rivals are doing near our borders and react," the president believes.

According to him, this is the meaning of the sudden inspection of the Armed Forces of Belarus launched last week.

"Imagine aggression. How will it be performed from the western or southern territory? We see several scenarios. And according to these scenarios, if, God forbid, events develop this way, we must respond. Immediately, the task is set to units, units to move there and there, block roads, the direction of the probable movement of the enemy. This is how we act today," he explained.

Domestic manufacturer

The President of Belarus is sure that when equipping the army, it is necessary to rely on a domestic manufacturer.

"The military-industrial complex is one of the most important high-tech sectors of the Belarusian economy. And, of course, we must rely on the domestic arms manufacturer. Automated command and control systems, AGAT holding developments, optics manufactured by Pelenga and BelOMO, as well as tractors manufactured by MZKT remain well-known domestic brands," Lukashenko stressed.

According to him, radio-electronic means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles created by Belarusian specialists have received wide recognition on the world market.

"Electronics for us was also one of the smart sectors of the economy during the Soviet period. You see how useful it was to us today. It's good that everything was saved. The Polonaise missile system, the Buk-MB medium-range anti-aircraft missile system are generally handsome, show very good reliability and efficiency - and missiles to it, hand grenade launchers, small arms and ammunition testify to the serious scientific and industrial reserve of our military-industrial complex," the head of state said.

The President also noted the work on the creation of robotic means of fire destruction, unmanned strike systems and anti-tank guided missiles. Lukashenko added that the troops are receiving the latest anti-aircraft missile systems "Tor-M2", radar stations "Enemy", "Sopka", "Vostok", "Rosa", electronic warfare systems "Thunderstorm".

In addition, Lukashenko announced agreements with Russia on assistance to Minsk in the field of missile production. According to him, the relevant agreements were reached with Russian President Vladimir Putin. And now Belarus is creating a rocket of the Russian Iskander model.

"In my presence, the president set the task [to the head of Roscosmos] Dmitry Rogozin to immediately provide support so that we would not create a bicycle, so that we could use the experience of developers, rocket scientists of the Russian Federation who made Iskander," the President of Belarus stressed.
