MIET plans to place its research and educational infrastructure there
In the Southern industrial zone, construction is in full swing — on the site of the demolished two old Angstrom buildings, "microelectronic production" is being built with a total area of 50 thousand square meters.meters. MIET plans to place its research and educational infrastructure in the new buildings.
Construction of the new production facility began at the end of 2021 and should be completed by the end of 2024. However, this is only the completion of construction — it is unknown when the equipment will be launched in the new building.
The project consists of buildings of different storeys (two to four floors), which are being erected on the site between the old building of the Angstrom plant and the new building of the former Angstrom-T plant (in 2021, the plant became the property of the VEB State Corporation. The Russian Federation and its subsidiary NM-Tech).
The developer is International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) MIET, created on the basis of the university in 2020 to form a scientific, educational and experimental production cluster next to the university.
The general designer is ADM Special Solutions and Technologies, which "develops complex design solutions with the introduction of the latest technologies for industrial buildings and structures throughout Russia." Microelectronics is one of the fields of its activity.
The construction site previously housed two two-storey buildings (buildings 5 and 6), built back in the 1970s, which in recent decades have been rented to tenants. By 2021, they were demolished. The company StroyEkoResurs LLC participated in the tender for the demolition work, which was conducted by NM-Tech. Now it acts as the general contractor for new construction.
A large-scale reconstruction awaits in the future the entire territory of the Angstrom plant, which is the site of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. According to the project approved in 2020, the old buildings of Angstrom with a total area of 153 thousand square meters should be demolished. New ones will be built in their place — 3.5 times more in area. The demolition of the first two buildings was planned at the initial stage of reconstruction. The timing of the entire reconstruction has not yet been determined.
Update: the first version of this article mentioned the technical content of the building under construction, but after publication it became known that the previous plans are now irrelevant and are being adjusted.
