The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has shown how the calculations of self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes "Pantsir-S1" destroyed the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Bayraktar.
"This vehicle is designed to provide air and ground defense of the most important facilities, as well as to work on UAVs, MLRS missiles and Tochka-U systems," battery commander Vladimir commented.
During the duty, Pantsir found an aerial target — the Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 drone. With the help of competent calculation actions, the air threat was destroyed. The sky is under reliable control, and any APU object that is found in the airspace will be eliminated.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
On May 3, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Igor Konashenkov, announced the destruction of three Bayraktar TB2 UAVs in the area of Zmeiny Island. In addition, the Russian military shot down four more UAVs of other models and intercepted five Ukrainian rockets.
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
