One of the systems that received the first combat use during the special operation in Ukraine was the Liven complex - the R-441 satellite communication station. It provides communication in strategic and operational management links and has managed to prove its effectiveness in security, range and stability of communication.
Replacing the generation of the Kristall complexes and adopted in 1997, the Liven station has undergone several modifications. The current version, the R-441UV, was developed seven years ago and is now being supplied to the Air Force and air Defense armies, as well as combined arms units.
The main advantage of the system, the publication notes " Army Standard ", is its versatility. It can provide communication with any digital, analog, radio relay stations, unified command and staff vehicles. The antenna equipment is automatically guided to the satellite at the specified coordinates.
In terms of the security of the closed signal and the ability to work in a difficult radio interference situation, "Downpour" surpasses "Crystal" by 10 times.
The system is based on the Ural-43203 high-pass vehicle. This allows you to take a comfortable position in hard-to-reach places and, if necessary, quickly change it. The power supply is provided by the power plant located in the trailer.
The crew of the R-441 can deploy digital broadband wireless access networks in any climatic conditions and in any terrain in a maximum of half an hour.
Thus, the "Downpour" is a powerful communication node that works autonomously in the field and covers huge distances. For example, at a recent training session in the Amur Region, the crews of the "Downpour" provided a high-quality closed digital communication line over a distance of more than 400 kilometers.
