Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) of medium range "Buk-M2" and short-range "Tor-2M" destroyed more than 40 targets during a special operation in Ukraine. The effectiveness of the military air defense (air defense) complexes was reported in the Ministry of Defense of Russia, reports TASS .
"In order to understand whether it is "one's own" or "someone else's", one second is enough for the operator of a camouflaged SAM command post, they can simultaneously track up to nine hundred targets in the selected air square. The target detection range is up to one hundred kilometers. The system automatically recognizes the enemy and gives the command to fire positions. During the special operation, only these air defense units destroyed more than 40 targets," the defense ministry said.
The Defense Ministry added that during this month, the Buk-M2 and Tor-2M complexes shot down 16 enemy targets.
In April, in the publication of The National Interest, the Russian Vityaz complex was called a problem for strike aircraft.
Earlier in the same month, it became known that the S-500 Prometheus air defense system was put into mass production.
In February, units of the Southern Military District (SE) destroyed small-sized targets from the weapons of the Tor-M2U complex during training.
