The Ministry of Defense has published footage of the combat work of the crews of the Ka-52 and Mi-8AMTSh helicopters
MOSCOW, April 29 - RIA Novosti. The Russian Defense Ministry has published footage of the combat work of the crews of Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopters and Mi-8AMTSh transport and assault helicopters, according to the commander of the combat vehicle, Ukrainian air defense often conducts "chaotic shelling in all directions."
"We saw the shelling on the helicopter. But since we were performing the task, and it was unexpected for the enemy, so the shelling was chaotic in all directions. They didn't even understand where the fire was coming from. After that, we returned safely here. They reported to the higher headquarters and transmitted the coordinates," said military pilot Igor.
"A second is enough for the pilot to make a decision to complete the task. The work is stressful. A lot of departures. But my guys are well done, they are charged, they perform tasks. In all weather conditions, day and night, we know what we are here for... If my guys see that the commander is always in the ranks, always in flight, and they feel calm, and I feel calm when I see them," he added.
As specified in the Ministry of Defense, for the feat accomplished during the special operation, the pilot will be presented to the state award.
The video published by the military department shows how the crews of army aviation perform tasks of escorting convoys, destroying armored vehicles and military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, delivering troops, military cargo, and aviation support for units performing tasks within the framework of a special operation.
The flights take place at extremely low altitudes, the crews perform several sorties per day, the Defense Ministry said.
"At this point in time, the task was to destroy the enemy's company stronghold. We are working from the maximum range so as not to fall into the enemy's air defense zone. We work from a distance of 5-6 kilometers depending on the classification of the rocket. The Mi-8 is standing in the waiting area at the back in case they work on us so that the crew can be picked up in time," said Mikhail, the navigator of the Ka-52 helicopter.
During one of the sorties, the crew of the Mi-8AMTSh transport and assault helicopter unexpectedly stumbled upon the position of Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners. As follows from the recordings of the radio exchange between the pilots, the pilots realized from the coloring that the detected Buk complex did not belong to the Russian Armed Forces and almost instantly struck at it. They wrote down the coordinates and left the zone.
