The armed forces of the Russian Federation shot down a Ukrainian military helicopter Mi-24 and destroyed two drones in the Kharkiv region. On Wednesday, April 27, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, told reporters about this.

"A Mi-24 helicopter of the Ukrainian air force was shot down by Russian air defense means in the Cherkassk Lozovaya area of the Kharkiv region. Also, two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the areas of the settlements of Peski-Radkovskie and Borshchevka," the Major General said.

He noted that since the beginning of the special operation, 141 aircraft, 111 helicopters, 609 unmanned aerial vehicles, 275 anti-aircraft missile systems, 2,616 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 297 multiple rocket launchers, 1,139 field artillery and mortars, as well as 2,426 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed in the armed forces of Ukraine technicians.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces seized about 1 thousand units of Ukrainian weapons in a field warehouse. Soviet weapons, Javelin, NLAW anti-tank complexes, a sample of a German-made anti-tank missile, drones, foreign small arms, etc. were found in the warehouse. The weapons were abandoned by Ukrainian nationalist units during the retreat on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic.

Also on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry told about the destruction of hangars with a large batch of foreign weapons and ammunition supplied by the United States and European countries for Ukrainian troops on the territory of the Zaporozhye aluminum Plant.

In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbas as a result of increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) asked for recognition of independence and announced the evacuation of civilians to Russia.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree. On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation pursues two goals - demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
