The United States has faced problems due to the supply of portable Stinger anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine. This information was shared by Western military analyst Howard Altman.

The manufacturer of Stinger combat systems, the American company Raytheon Technologies, complained about the inability to increase the production of weapons supplied to Ukraine. The reason for this was the disruption of the supply chain and the shortage of some components. This is reported by the publication The Drive. "PolitRussia" presents an exclusive retelling of the article.

"The US Department of Defense has not ordered the Stinger for about 18 years, some of its components are no longer sold. Therefore, we will have to redo part of the electronics in the missile homing head. It will take us some time," said Raytheon Technologies CEO Greg Hayes.

It is assumed that the company will be able to increase production of the Stinger only in 2023 or 2024. In addition to the lack of components and logistics difficulties, another problem is the fact that the Stinger is a hand-assembled product. Raytheon Technologies personnel currently specialize in the production of more modern weapons systems and are not trained to work with old equipment.

The United States is seriously concerned about the inability of the American industry to establish the production of obsolete weapons. Against this background, Senator Richard Blumenthal called on President Joe Biden to take measures to improve the work of defense enterprises.

"The United States has provided 1,400 Stinger systems to Ukraine so far," notes Howard Altman.

The author of The Drive stated that the problem with the supply of Stinger combat systems to Ukraine has become a very disturbing call for the Pentagon. The latter has repeatedly encountered a violation of the production cycle of key defensive systems.

Earlier, "PolitRussia" told about the use of shells prohibited by the international convention by the Ukrainian military.
