The Russian Defense Ministry has published a video of a salvo launch of Kalibr cruise missiles by submarines of the Pacific Fleet. The latest diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 "Volkhov" and "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky", which recently arrived at the Pacific Fleet, performed firing as part of the combat training cycle.
- The submarines practiced practical actions. Having overcome the conditional anti-submarine line of the enemy, the ships went to a given area and launched a missile strike at a given target - a sea shield that imitated an enemy ship, - the head of the fleet's press service, Captain 3rd rank Ilya Kolesnikov, told RG.
The launch was carried out from an underwater position. Each submarine fired two missiles in one salvo. The target was successfully hit. For security reasons, the shooting area was closed in advance to civilian shipping and air traffic. The training was provided by more than 15 ships and auxiliary vessels of the fleet, as well as naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet.
