INTERFAX - Import substitution in the optical industry became the central topic of the meeting of the Council of Chief Technologists, which was held under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation Oleg Bochkarev, the press service of the holding "Shvabe.
"The participants of the event discussed the comprehensive development of key technologies in optoelectronics and photonics, focusing on raw material independence, import substitution, as well as the formation of new directions and competencies. In addition, we considered the issue of diversification of the main technologies of the industry in the interests of the national economy," the report said on Tuesday.
In the report of Sergey Popov, Deputy General Director of Shvabe for Advanced Research and Development, Head of the priority technological direction for optoelectronics and photonics technologies, special emphasis was placed on training highly qualified personnel and increasing fundamental and applied R&D.
"Photonics and optoelectronics are dynamically developing areas that create opportunities for the implementation of high-tech products, therefore it is important to support and improve them. Together with colleagues, we discussed ways of further work in this industry and considered in detail a number of proposals for its development," Popov said, as quoted by the press service.
It is reported that, among other things, the participants noted the need to build new long-term cooperative ties between industry organizations, and also appreciated the importance of joint search for approaches to solve import substitution problems.
