The APU handed over new tanks with ammunition during the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region
MOSCOW, Apr 11 — RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv region handed over brand new tanks with full ammunition to the Russian military, the Defense Ministry reported.
The ministry clarified that during the liberation of the Topolskoye settlement of the Izyumsky district, the tankers raised the guns up "and there was no shooting."
According to him, the task was to take settlements and provide a corridor for the passage of Russian forces further south.
"They attacked the settlement, marched as part of a battalion-tactical group on their tanks, went forward. When they took the settlement, they ran away and shouted that they needed artillery help, they needed phosphorus to burn us out, because they can't do anything anymore," the commander added.
As specified in the Ministry of Defense, in the battle, the crews used natural shelters after firing at enemy armored vehicles.
The work of the tanks was supported by maneuverable groups of motorized rifle units on infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2 and armored personnel carriers BTR-82A with hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers and flamethrowers.
On February 24, Russia launched a military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called its goal "the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." The armed forces are striking only at the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops and have already completed the main tasks of the first stage — they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal of the operation in the Russian military department called the liberation of Donbass.
