The newest Russian armored car "Buran" was first presented to the public in 2020. However, it is already gaining popularity among the military – both Russian and foreign.
Recently it became known about the promotion of this machine in the foreign market – the command of the Armenian armed forces became interested in this novelty of the Russian defense industry and eventually signed a contract for the assembly of the Buran (apparently, a large-node, from machine kits) at its production facilities.
Now there is information about the participation of this armored car in the Ukrainian conflict. So, on one of the videos posted on social networks, a "Buran" was seen in the battle formations of Russian troops advancing in Mariupol. It is possible that following the results of the use of new equipment in combat conditions, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, following Armenia, will decide on mass purchases of the machine.
As stated on the manufacturer's website, the Nizhny Novgorod Aviation Society company, the customer can install any module he prefers, including a combat one, on the Buran. The capacity is from 6 to 8 people. The level of protection corresponds to the 2nd according to STANAG 4569 - against bullets of 7.62 mm x 39 flying from a distance of 30 m; against fragments when detonating a projectile of 80 m; and against a mine with a charge of 6 kg of explosive. Curb weight is 9.1 tons, load capacity is 1.5 tons.
As a power plant, a four-stroke YAMZ-534 engine with a capacity of 210 hp is used, allowing speeds up to 100 km / h at a consumption of 21 liters of fuel per 100 km.
