Izvestia correspondent Alexander Morozov visited a mobile military camp of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on April 8, deployed near the front line of a special military operation to protect civilians in the Donbas.
The location of the town does not allow you to shoot the area around — otherwise you can give out its coordinates. It has everything that soldiers need during an operation — from a field barracks and a medical center to a kitchen.
The organization of logistics takes about 1.5 hours. Along with the deployment of refueling facilities, in particular, the placement of a field bath and kitchens takes place, preparing them for work.
Alexander Morozov was shown how the Russian military is fed. The field bakery makes bread with a simple composition: flour, yeast, sugar, water, but the soldiers who try it say that bread is much tastier than what you can buy in the store.
There is also work going on in the mobile kitchen: lunch is being prepared for the servicemen. Cabbage soup, porridge with stewed meat, sweet tea — the menu for the front line, though modest, but satisfying. The chefs noted that due to the fact that canned food can be used in the kitchen for cooking, the cooking time has been reduced from two hours to just 40 minutes. The cooks stressed that only the highest quality ingredients are used for soldiers' food, and so that the servicemen are always full, the food is prepared with a reserve.
A special place in the camp is occupied by a field bath and laundry factory based on a military truck. The plant is divided into three parts. In the first there is a locker room where servicemen can leave their belongings and change clothes. Next is the bathhouse itself, and in the third part there is a laundry room where soldiers can wash their uniforms. Eight people can swim in the bath at a time.
Food, clothing, refueling equipment, baths and much more — all this is done by the rear units. Not only the supply of the army, but also the combat capability of units on the front line depends on their diligent and daily work.
On April 7, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published footage of the movement of Russian military equipment along a pontoon crossing constructed by military engineers of the Western Military District across the Seversky Donets River during a special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. The organization of work on the guidance of the pontoon crossing was carried out by the deputy chief of the engineering troops of the ZVO, Colonel Nikolai Ovcharenko, and the commander of a separate engineering battalion of the ZVO, Captain Yevgeny Nikitin.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) announced the evacuation of civilians to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation pursues two goals — demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
