240-mm self-propelled mortars of the reserve of the Supreme High Command 2C4 "Tulip" enter the battle. And that says a lot.
According to the Ministry of Defense, mortars arrived in Mariupol for the final demilitarization of the Azov National Battalion (an organization banned in Russia), which had settled in Azovstal. The militants refused to capitulate, so they will be destroyed. No fortification can stand against the ammunition of the most powerful mortar in the world.
2C4 "Tulip" refers to the artillery of the reserve of the Supreme High Command, which includes especially large calibers. We can assume that those who are holed up in the dungeons of Azovstal, and Kiev itself, received an unequivocal warning.
Self-propelled 2C4 "Tulip" entered service in 1971. In their arsenal there are several types of mines, including active-reactive guided with a laser guidance head. At the final stage, such a mine, falling vertically down, is able to go into horizontal flight and get exactly, for example, "into the entrance of the cave.
During the war in Afghanistan, only the "Tulips" were guaranteed to destroy the dushmans hiding in caves, in front of which there were rubble made of stones, and therefore inaccessible to artillery or aerial bombs.
A number of high-explosive and concrete-piercing ammunition are equipped with jet engines. They increase the firing range to almost 20 km. The reactive charge also gives the mine acceleration, which allows, in the case of concrete-piercing charges, to break through reinforced floors and explode inside the bunker.
Mines carry a charge of powerful explosives weighing from 31.9 to 46.5 kg, there are incendiary ammunition.
The main ammunition of the mortar includes 53-F-864 high-explosive mines with a maximum firing range of 9.65 km, as well as 3F2 active-reactive mines with a maximum firing range of 19.69 km.
Most likely, an active-reactive correctable mine "Daredevil" will be used during the destruction of the Nazi fortifications on Azovstal.
This is how the most impregnable militant bases were destroyed in Afghanistan. The mine not only hits the spot, but also makes a truly terrible impression on the enemy even on approach. Its jet engine emits a terrifying roar, for which the "Daredevil" was also nicknamed "the devil".
The Daredevil complex includes a 3VF shot with a 3F5 corrected high-explosive mine and a laser target designator-rangefinder. In the head of the mine there is a correction unit, which is equipped with aerodynamic rudders. The correction of the flight path is made by turning on eight low-power solid-fuel engines located radially on the body of the mine. Shooting with the "Daredevil" mine is carried out in the same way as with a conventional mine, it is only necessary to set the opening time of the optical head window.
2C4 "Tulip" is able to shoot like no mortar in the world - from the angle of maximum elevation. The barrel of the mortar rises almost vertically - at an angle of about 90 degrees. The mine, having reached the maximum flight altitude, also begins to fall almost vertically.
Usually, mines fly along a very steep, but still parabolic trajectory, falling to the ground at some angle. And here it crashes vertically. This allows the mines to fall without any deviations at the same point, eventually breaking through concrete protection of any thickness. And the final blow of the incendiary mines of the "Side" destroys what was hiding in bunkers and dungeons. One such mine burns out everything on an area of 7859 square meters. meters.
The mortar is mounted on a high-passable tracked chassis, has bulletproof armor protection. The rate of fire is one shot per minute.
