MOSCOW, April 2 - RIA Novosti. Rosatom has not stopped any nuclear power plant construction project abroad in the current situation, said Alexey Likhachev, General Director of the state corporation.
"We have not stopped a single facility, we continue to work," Likhachev said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 channel when asked about Rosatom's current international projects.
According to Likhachev, the current situation on Rosatom's international projects "could not but be reflected, because simply, excuse me for such a word, it distorted the entire world logistics, a complete, so to speak, leapfrog with exchange rates." He noted that the state corporation is now assessing the risks associated with third-party suppliers, that is, the level below subcontractors.
"A nuclear power plant is a "big city", and in a big city there are many different little things. And now the main thing is to understand all these little things... Therefore, now it is necessary, of course, once again to the very end, as they say, to the molecules, to the atoms, to deal with all supplies," Likhachev explained.
Rosatom's portfolio of foreign projects includes 35 NPP power units in different countries and at different stages of implementation.
Rosatom will not stop the work aimed at creating nuclear energy technologies of the future, said Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the state corporation.
In an interview, he spoke about how the program for the development of nuclear science and technology will be implemented in the current conditions.
"If there is a very tough scenario, we will prioritize something. But we will never remove its significant components from this project, because this is the future not only of Russia's nuclear energy, it is the future of the whole world," Likhachev said.
As part of the program, flagship samples of nuclear power of the new, fourth generation are being created in practice, Likhachev noted. "That is, not just on paper or in 3D models, but on the ground and in a pilot-industrial format, we are creating a fourth-generation power unit, creating a closed fuel cycle, creating a fuel fabrication and refabrication enterprise, plus thermonuclear, thermonuclear energy, plus new materials for nuclear power, plus small (nuclear) stations"," he said.
Rosatom has internal financial reserves that can be directed to the main areas of the program, Likhachev stressed.
The comprehensive program "Development of Equipment, Technologies and Scientific Research in the field of Nuclear Energy Use in the Russian Federation" (RTTN) is aimed at strengthening Russia's leading positions in the global nuclear industry, ensuring energy security of the Russian Federation, accelerating technological development in a wide range of areas.
The program includes research in such key areas as two-component nuclear power, the development of an experimental bench base, thermonuclear and plasma technologies, new materials and technologies for advanced energy systems, reference (reference) NPP power units, including low-power nuclear power plants.
The customer is the coordinator of the RTTN program - Rosatom, the scientific management of the program is entrusted to the national research center "Kurchatov Institute".
In the current situation, Rosatom does not change its strategic objectives to ensure the defense capability of the Russian Federation and leadership in the global nuclear markets, said Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the state corporation.
"We will definitely not change the strategic tasks that we face by 2030. That is, we will not change anything related to leadership in the global nuclear technology market. Everything related to defense and security will never (change)," Likhachev said.
Ensuring Russia's defense capability is the main task of the domestic nuclear industry, for which it was created more than 75 years ago. In recent years, Rosatom has been fully fulfilling the state defense order.
Rosatom, together with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and military units of nuclear support, guarantee the implementation of Russia's policy in the field of nuclear deterrence. The Rosatom nuclear weapons complex not only works to maintain the operability and modernization of previously created charges, but also ensures that charges with new qualitative characteristics are put on combat duty in conditions of nuclear-free tests. Rosatom fulfills the state defense order, also participating in the creation of non-nuclear weapons.
The creation of a new generation of weapons capable of ensuring a strategic balance in the world for decades to come has become one of the successes of the current generation of Russian nuclear scientists, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted earlier.
