The calculation of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system disabled two Su-25s of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as part of a special military operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass.
As specified, the anti-aircraft gunners covered the logistics columns stationed near Chernihiv.
Then the Buk crew under the command of Sergei Ovcharenko identified an enemy Su-25 attack aircraft and eliminated the device.
Then the calculation was decided to cover the units of the ground forces, after which the second target was disabled.
"The combat crew showed high-quality training, coordinated actions during real combat operations. We were transferred to readiness in the specified combat sector, an aerial target was detected, and an identification was carried out. At the command to destroy, a launch was made, the target was hit. They were supposed to change their position, but they found the second target, carried out the capture, reported to the commander and, having received permission, destroyed the second target. They were enemy planes," Ovcharenko said.
According to the commander of the calculation, the enemy aircraft threatened the ground forces, therefore, despite the great risk, the Buk remained in place, and the heroism of the anti-aircraft gunners helped save the lives of the Russian military, Izvestia writes.
