Long before the start of the special military operation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine, in certain circles Belarus was already called the Western outpost of the Union State. The very geostrategic position of the republic has predetermined the corresponding tasks for the grouping of troops that is now on the "Belarusian balcony".
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly spoken about them. "Our task now is to determine the protection of the state border with NATO - Poland and Lithuania. The task was set so that you could see everything, so that we would not miss a single tank, not a single soldier. We need to see everything that is happening there, in Poland," the president said on February 24 during an operational meeting with the military.
The same was mentioned at the regular talks of the Presidents of Belarus and Russia, which took place in Moscow on March 11. "There are three points: they want to cut off the movement of Russian troops — to hit them in the back, as I said; secondly, they want to hit the positions of those troops that we have left from the Belarusian-Russian exercises; and they do not lose hope of dragging us into this massacre directly so that we bare the western section," – Alexander Lukashenko noted.
In other words, the Belarusian armed forces and the part of the Russian group that remained in Belarus after the exercises are currently aimed at covering the western direction and act as a kind of shield protecting from a stab in the back.
The stronger the shield, the calmer. Therefore, the equipment of the Belarusian army with modern Russian weapons, military and special equipment is the most important issue in the current situation. It is not for nothing that Alexander Lukashenko also spoke about this on the eve of the joint exercises "Allied Resolve-2022".
"Everyone has noticed that we are relocating a lot of equipment from Russia to Belarus, including modern ones. <...> This is very important for us, because we plan to buy almost all the equipment that will be here from you this year, next year, and so on. This is very important for us. And not just for us. This is critically important for our Union State today...", the president said.
This topic was continued at the aforementioned talks of the presidents in Moscow on March 11. During the conversation, the parties paid special attention to the development of the military-industrial complex and the defense of the Union State. "In particular, we have agreed on the supply of the most modern military equipment by Russia to the Republic of Belarus in the near future," the press secretary of the Belarusian president noted.
The unprecedented sanctions pressure of the collective West on Russia and Belarus has only once again highlighted the indisputable fact that, wrapped up in their snobbery, the "Western partners" are able to perceive only the language of force. The intensification of joint activities of Russia and Belarus in the field of improving military and military-technical cooperation shows that strategic allies are ready for such a format of communication with Europe and the United States. Moreover, they are improving their knowledge of a language understandable to "Western partners".
