By creating a joint venture with Kale (Turkey), the British company Rolls-Royce will help in creating an engine for the first Turkish fifth-generation fighter TF-X. The partner companies organized a common "daughter", which was named TAEC.
This is reported by the American magazine Defense News.
It is known that the Turkish share in the joint venture is 51 percent. The first attempt to launch this project ended in failure. The head of the Turkish Defense Industry Department, Ismail Demir, explained this with "five or six" disagreements between companies on production issues, but now, according to him, they have been eliminated.
- the official said in a TV interview on March 5.
The TF-X is scheduled to make its first flight in 2026. According to Turkish officials, it should enter service with the country's Air Force in 2029. Its prototypes will use American-made F-110 engines from General Electric, and in the future they will be replaced by TAEC powerplants. It is expected that they will allow the new aircraft to climb to an altitude of over 12 thousand meters and reach a speed of Mach 1.8.
