The statement of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about the possibility and desire of Kiev to regain the status of a nuclear country is extremely dangerous. This was announced on Monday at an extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council by Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
"I would like to draw the attention of the members of the Security Council to the statement of Mr. Zelensky that they assume and would like to regain their nuclear status, I will not say powers ... countries. This is extremely dangerous for several reasons. Firstly, during the long years of Soviet power and being part of the USSR, opportunities for the creation of such weapons were created there. And not only weapons, but also their carriers," Shoigu explained.
"If we mention that nuclear tactical weapons are located on the territory of Germany, then here they may well appear on those carriers that already exist today. I have already mentioned (complex, - approx. "RG") "Dot-Y", on which it is quite calmly placed," the Russian Defense Minister clarified.
Sergei Shoigu stressed that Ukraine has equipment, technologies and specialists who have capabilities "much greater than those of Iran and North Korea." The Minister recalled that it is these countries that are being talked about from all levels and are engaged in agreements to ensure that they are denuclearized. Whereas the threat from Ukraine is much more dangerous.
On the eve of the "RG" reported that the head of Ukraine, in a speech at the Munich Security Conference, announced his readiness to abandon the Budapest Memorandum guaranteeing Ukraine's non-nuclear status. Which, according to him, may in the future lead to the appearance of nuclear weapons in Kiev.
