Moscow. February 19. INTERFAX - Units of the Marine Corps of the Eastern Military District (VVO) at the Russian-Belarusian exercises "Allied Determination-2022" worked out on Saturday the landing of a tactical air assault in order to prevent the withdrawal of illegal armed formations (IAF).

"With the receipt of the task, the reconnaissance units of the Marine corps loaded into Mi-8AMTSh helicopters at the Baranovichi airfield (Belarus - IF) and flew to the area of the landfill, where they carried out landing from helicopters by landing method," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"After disembarking from the helicopter, the advance group occupied these lines, ensuring by its actions the landing of the main forces of the tactical landing to block and destroy the outgoing IAF," the agency informs.

The training and combat tasks were carried out at the Belarusian training ground "Obuz-Lesnovsky", the report says.

Russia and Belarus are checking the reaction forces of the Union State. At the first stage - on February 9 - the redeployment and creation of groups of troops took place. At the second stage - from February 10 to 20 - joint exercises "Allied Determination-2022" are held.

A number of units of the Armed Forces of Belarus, as well as units of the Air Force, Aerospace Forces and Airborne Troops of Russia take part in the maneuvers. In particular, long-range S-400 Triumph air defense systems, Pantsir-S short-range air defense systems, Su-35 multi-purpose fighters of the fourth generation and Su-25SM attack aircraft have been relocated to Belarus from the Russian Federation.

In Belarus, four training grounds ("Obuz-Lesnovsky", "Osipovichi", "Brest", "Gozhsky"), a number of terrain areas, as well as four airfields (in Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi) are involved in the exercises.

The exercises are taking place against the backdrop of a crisis in relations between Russia and the West. The United States, other NATO countries and Ukraine announced the concentration of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and the threat of a Russian invasion.
