Washington, February 18. INTERFAX - Washington is noting progress in the negotiations on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said at a briefing on Friday.
"We feel that there has been solid progress over the last week, and this continues," she said.
"If Iran shows seriousness, then we can come to an understanding regarding a mutual return to the JCPOA within days," Psaki added.
Iran and the "six" international mediators (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) concluded the JCPOA on the Iranian nuclear program in 2015. It provided for the restriction of Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international and unilateral anti-Iranian sanctions.
Former US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018 and resumed anti-Iranian sanctions, which prompted Tehran to gradually abandon compliance with some of the terms of the deal.
Under President Joe Biden, the United States expressed its readiness to restore the JCPOA.
