Expert Leonkov called the features of the Lancet-3 barrage ammunition
The Russian Lancet-3 barrage munition, which was tested in Syria, will allow strikes against previously unknown targets. The features of the kamikaze drone were named by military expert Alexey Leonkov in an interview with Izvestia.
He noted that the Lancet-3 is equipped with an optoelectronic device that allows the operator to detect the target and aim the ammunition. Also, barrage ammunition allows you to cancel the attack.
"There are other advantages of this type of weapon. For example, they can be returned back if the target was not detected. It won't work with a rocket or a guided projectile," Leonkov said.
Also, an unmanned vehicle can hover in a given area. This allows the operator to clarify the coordinates of the target and choose the time for an effective attack.
Earlier, RIA Novosti, citing a military-diplomatic source, reported that the Russian military used Lancet-3 barrage ammunition in Syria. The modified device was used against militants. The new version of the drone can carry a "warhead of increased power."
In December, the company Zala Aero showed the launch of the Lancet drone from a boat. The ammunition was launched using a mechanical catapult.
